Cockatoos Down Under Have a Preference for Wooden Houses....

One instance of man interferring with nature causing chaos within the Cockatoo community.

Cocky cockatoos have acquired a taste for coastal homes.

A Department of Sustainability and Environment spokeswoman said as conditions had become drier in rural areas, many towns in Australia had noticed an increased number of Long Billed Corellas and Sulphur Crested Cockatoos.

'Traditionally these birds would have gathered in areas of grassland and woodlands to feed on fresh shoots and seeds'.

Since agricultural practices have changed land use,these clever birds have adapted, now they flock to townships where food, water and roost sites are often available.
